Tim Burton circling Maleficent's story from Disney's Sleeping Beauty

It is rumored that Tim Burton may be making a film that tells the story of the villain Maleficent from Disney’s SLEEPING BEAUTY. Although still circling the rumor mill, this film could be pretty spectacular with the Burton live action twist he’s been putting out as of late. Disney never really gave us a lot of background on Maleficent so it would be awesome to see what kind of screenplay Burton and his team can come up with. Burton’s next film ALICE IN WONDERLAND hits theaters March 5, 2010.

I love the idea of this film and really hope Burton decides to go with it. There are so many different characters with great story possibilities that Disney never touched on in their films . Revisiting them as an adult would be a real treat.
