Slumdog Millionaire’s Freida Pinto to star in War of the Gods

Freida Pinto from the insanely popular SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, is set to star as Phaedra in the upcoming WAR OF THE GODS. The film is about a young warrior named Theseus that has to defeat evil, Greek Gods to prevent the destruction of the world. Tarsem Singh will direct and Henry Cavill will star as Theseus. Really, this film can go either way; you never know with films about mythical Greek Gods. If they pile on the special effects, this will be cheesy, but if they focus on a story, it could turn out alright.
I was wondering when we’d hear Freida Pinto’s name again. When SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE was getting so much attention last year, I found it odd that Pinto hadn’t already lined up a few projects. Dev Patel hopped on to THE LAST AIRBENDER pretty quickly, while Pinto took a small part in YOU WILL MEET A TALL DARK STRANGER. I guess I just thought she’d find a starring role a little faster.
