Channing Tatum, Keira Knightley and Emily Blunt are up for roles in the Captain America movie

I’m completely sick of posting news/rumors about the casting for CAPTAIN AMERICA. At first, it was fun and innocent while we guessed who could get the role, but now various newspapers are just making their way through every actor under 35 as a candidate for the role. The latest victim of the rumor mill is Channing Tatum. Now it’s being reported that he was contacted by Marvel studios to don the red white and blue spandex. While other stars have to audition, word is that Tatum will be made an offer and he’ll either accept or reject the offer. In other words, if Marvel wants him, they’re going to have to pay.
On the female lead front, we haven’t heard much in the way of casting, but the same source says that Keira Knightley, Emily Blunt and Alice Eve are all up for the female lead of Peggy. Blunt, if you remember, was originally Black Widow in IRON MAN 2 before she had to drop out to do GULLIVER’S TRAVELS, so at least there’s some validity to the fact that Marvel likes her. Personally, Knightley is one of my favorites and I’d like to see her in the role.
