David Fincher set for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

I just recently watched the Swedish film THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (review coming next week) and after finishing the film, I remember thinking that they’re going to have a very hard time turning this into a film American audiences will appreciate. It’s a very heavy film with some graphic scenes and disturbing events that typically doesn’t resonate well with the general audience. That said, it is a great story and a great film. It seems David Fincher agrees with me as the in-demand director has decided that Dragon Tattoo will be his next film. This of course means that he probably won’t be doing PAWN SACRIFICE, which is a shame because I think he would have been great with Bobby Fischer’s story.
Obviously, the real question is who will be playing the female lead in the American version and Fincher would be wise to ask Noomi Rapace to reprise her role. She was by far and away the highlight of the film and it’s only a matter of time before American audiences discover her.
