Astrid Berges-Frisbey joins Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz in fourth Pirates film

Although I’m still disappointed that Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley won’t be back for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES, I have to admit that they’ve assembled quite a cast. Today we learn that popular French actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey will be playing a beautiful mermaid that Captain Jack Sparrow encounters on his travels. Although American audiences won’t recognize her, she’s assembled quite a resume of French films and she’s only 23 years-old. She’s definitely a beautiful woman and if everything goes well in this, I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of her.
Of course, she joins a cast that already includes Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane and Geoffrey Rush. Rob Marshall will be giving up musicals to direct this installment that will hit theaters on May 20th, 2011.
