James Franco to star in Rise of the Apes

James Franco has been cast in the upcoming PLANET OF THE APES prequel, RISE OF THE APES. Franco will play a scientist who becomes a significant role in the war between humans and apes. The 20th Century Fox film is set to be released June 24, 2011 and will be directed by Rupert Wyatt.
Franco is one of those rare actors who seem to be able to have a wide variety of performances in different films. He has achieved cult stardom in the underrated FREAKS AND GEAKS, took a big budget leap in SPIDERMAN, used his comedic chops in PINEAPPLE EXPRESS and gone dramatic with MILK. This year alone he has DATE NIGHT, 127 HOURS, EAT PRAY LOVE and even worked on the soap opera GENERAL HOSPITAL. The guy obviously can do it all.
