Mark Ruffalo to replace Edward Norton as The Hulk in The Avengers

Posted by: Brad Sturdivant

Well, this didn’t take long. We just learned that Edward Norton was not going to be playing Bruce Banner in The Avengers (in corporate America, we call that “you’re quit”) and within a couple of days we learn that Mark Ruffalo is late in the process to replace him. What’s interesting about this is that given the timing of the news, it’s safe to say Marvel may have been planning to make the film without Edward Norton all along. Typically, you don’t get an actor of Ruffalo’s caliber to step into a role as iconic as The Hulk with only two days of negotiating.

I know Edward Norton has his supporters and that fans everywhere are disappointed he won’t be reprising his role in THE AVENGERS, but I have to say that adding Mark Ruffalo to the cast makes me even more excited for the film. I like Norton, but Ruffalo has been one of my favorites since he broke onto the scene in YOU CAN COUNT ON ME back in 2000. He makes every movie he’s in better and I think he’s going to make a great Bruce Banner.
