Len Wiseman to direct a Total Recall remake, America asks why

Len Wiseman can direct. He hasn’t done anything spectacular, but when you look at the UNDERWORLD movies and LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD, you can tell that the guy knows what he’s doing behind the camera. Which begs the question; why in the world would he sign on to direct a TOTAL RECALL remake? Is this a new low for Hollywood? Have we actually come to the point where we’re taking 20 year-old Arnold Schwarzenegger movies and remaking them just for the sake of remaking them? And who is going to star in this? No A-list actor is going to star in a role that is so closely associated with another actor unless it’s a superhero. Uggghhh. But the point is that they’re making a TOTAL RECALL remake and Len Wiseman is going to direct it.

In the press release, they do say that they want to stay true to Philip K. Dick’s original short story ‘We Can Remember It for You Wholesale’, so maybe they’ll add a spin to it that will make it more original. If that’s the case, then don’t even call it “Total Recall”, call it something completely different and remove the association to the original. And you have to wonder if he’ll convince his wife, Kate Beckinsale, to star in the film.
