Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton bringing Prince of Persia to Blu-ray on September 14th

The normally successful Jerry Bruckheimer has had a rough year so far. His first summer movie, PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME fell kind of flat with audiences while his second feature, THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE wasn’t seen at all. Personally, I thought PoP was kind of fun and I think it will do much, much better on the home video front. Disney must be thinking the same thing as they’ve just announced the Blu-ray release of PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME. On September 14th, it will be available in three separate editions, including a Blu-ray only, a DVD only and a Blu-ray/DVD/Digital copy combo pack.
Unfortunately, extras are kind of limited on the release, consisting of only a featurette entitled “An Unseen World: The Making of Prince of Persia” and some deleted scenes. The Blu-ray will also feature a feature called “CineExplore” in which users can click on an icon and “unlock secrets behind your favorite scenes”. That feature will have over 40 segments, making up for the lack of features I suppose. It would have been nice to get a commentary from Gyllenhaal. I would have been interested to hear what he did to get in shape for the film. No one gains that much muscle, that fast.
