Taraji P. Henson is set for From The Rough

When hearing that Taraji P. Henson was going to play in a role inspired by the “first female head coach of an NCAA Division 1 Men’s team”, I of course was thinking basketball. I even read the source and skipped over the word “golf” several times. So, don’t get confused; there will be no basketball in this movie. But Taraji P. Henson will be playing Cassandra Turner, who is a fiction character inspired by the real life Dr. Catana Starks. Starks was a successful swim coach who parlayed that success into head coach of the men’s golf team.
The story is intriguing as Turner is the coach of a golf team at a predominantly black college and she finds golfers to be scarce. So she embarks on a world tour to find eligible players and puts together a “uniquely multi-racial” team. No mention if the team ever wins anything, although I think the movie would be anti-climatic if they turn out to get beat every tournament.
