Mark Ruffalo to star in The Normal Heart for director Ryan Murphy

Ryan Murphy has become quite the it-man in show-business these days. His hit TV show, ‘Glee’ is proving to have some staying power and manages to find its way into the news almost every day. And his new film EAT, PRAY, LOVE seems to be on the right track to be a big hit this weekend. And apart from signing on to direct a follow-up Julia Roberts film, it looks like he’s set to take on more serious themes in THE NORMAL HEART. The film is the semi-autobiographical story of Larry Kramer and is based on his play about the early stages of the AIDS outbreak in New York City in the early 80’s.
Starring in the lead role is Mark Ruffalo, who has been a busy bee himself lately. He’s received tons of critical acclaim for his performance in this summer’s THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT and he’s set to star as The Hulk in the upcoming THE AVENGERS. He’ll be playing Ned Weeks in the film, who kind of led the “people’s movement” to get AIDS help in the city.
