Film festivals in Venice and Telluride have brought fans forth to see the latest psychological thriller from Darren Aronofsky’s BLACK SWAN, starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, and according to early reports Natalie Portman has knocked the role out of the park. In fact, her turn as a delicate ballet dancer has landed her an offer for Cuaron’s next film GRAVITY, without a screen test. GRAVITY is a big budget film that follows a woman who is stranded alone on a space station after damage from debris. The 3D film will also star Robert Downey, Jr. and will, of course, be in 3D. The script is now in Ms. Portman’s hands with a decision pending. Filming is scheduled to start in January.
I’m not shocked to find out that Natalie Portman knocked the ball out of the park with BLACK SWAN, the film looks amazing. However, I am surprised to find out that it seems that she isn’t offered roles without screen tests more often. In any case, BLACK SWAN appears to be doing amazing things for her career, so congratulations to her.
