Michael Caine set to join Dwayne Johnson in Journey to the Center of the Earth sequel

Michael Caine is one of the most respected and revered living actors. He has one of the strongest resumes with a couple of Oscar’s to boot. Unfortunately he jumps on board crappy sequels from time to time. For me, my introduction to the famous actor was in the fourth JAWS: THE REVENGE, for which filming caused him to miss accepting his first Academy Award for HANNAH AND HER SISTERS. So obviously I didn’t think much of him. Since then I’ve seen him in great films like DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDERELS, CIDER HOUSE RULES, BATMAN BEGINS, THE PRESTIGE and the rest of Christopher Nolan films proving his greatness.
It looks like Caine is going to star in another unnecessary sequel in JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND. JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH 3D starred the ‘say yes to everything’ Brendan Fraser. He will not be returning but Josh Hutchinson will be back as Sean Anderson and along with his mom’s boyfriend (Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson) he will search for his missing grandpa (Caine). The New Line film is said to showcase the older thespian getting chased by giant bees.
