I think Paul Bettany must have some kind of beef with heaven or religion. It’s odd for an actor to do more than one religion-themed movie, let alone play three religious-themed characters (THE DA VINCI CODE, LEGION, PRIEST) in such a short amount of time. But Paul Bettany seems to have found his calling and his latest turn as an agent of God is in the upcoming action thriller PRIEST. This time around, he’ll be playing a “priest” in some kind of alternate future where demented vampires are attacking humans. He apparently was a soldier, and then has to go rogue when a couple of evil vamps kidnap a little girl. I’m still a little sick of the vampire angle, but the film has some good style going on, so it might be decent.

Also starring in the film are Maggie Q, Lily Collins, Karl Urban, Stephen Moyer and Christopher Plummer. Scott Charles Stewart is directing, who also directed Paul Bettany in LEGION. The film hits theaters on May 13th, 2011. Watch the trailer here.
