Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch to star in William Friedkin's Killer Joe

In pretty people casting news, Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch will be starring in KILLER JOE for Nicolas Chartier’s Voltage Pictures. The film centers on a brother and sister that hire a contract killer to knock off their mother for insurance money. Hirsch will play the brother and McConaughey will play the Killer Joe. William Friedkin will direct the black comedy due to start shooting November 9. Friedkin, who is best known for quite possibly the scariest movie of all time in THE EXORCIST, has his fair share of stinkers in JADE and THE HUNTED. So who knows how KILLER JOE will turn out? McConaughey is also hit or miss so the best thing the film has going for it is the consistently talented Hirsch.
