Kate Beckinsale and Mark Wahlberg set for Contraband

What happened to Kate Beckinsale? After flying through the air in the UNDERWORLD movies and starring in a hodgepodge of other films, I thought she was set to become a Hollywood leading lady. But she seemed to have dropped off the radar, not because she couldn’t get work, but seemingly because she just didn’t want any work. I’ve always liked Kate Beckinsale, so here’s hoping that her starring in the action thriller CONTRABAND with Mark Wahlberg will lead to a busier schedule for her.
The film is a remake of the 2008 film REYKJAVIK-ROTTERDAM, which starred Baltasar Kormakur and tells the story of a former smuggler turned security guard that falls on some hard times and looks to an old friend for some financial help. Of course, that leads to him going back and doing some illegal smuggling. The original film took place in Iceland and the smuggler mostly did his smuggling on the Iceland-Netherlands route.
