Steve Carell to play Dennis Lambert in Of All The Things
Posted by: Brad Sturdivant
Steve Carell is going to be playing a rock star in the upcoming OF ALL THINGS, but he’s doing it in a way that actually makes sense. In the film, Carell will play the real life musician Dennis Lambert, who went on a music tour of the Philippines and realized he was a rock star legend in that country. Basically, he was to the Philippines what David Hasselhoff was/is to the Germans. There was a 2008 documentary by the same name that chronicled Lambert’s success. You may be thinking; but I’ve never heard of Dennis Lambert. And you probably haven’t, but you’ve definitely heard of some of the songs he wrote or produced, such as Ain’t No Woman (Like The One I’ve Got), Rhinestone Cowboy, Night Shift, We Built This City, and Baby Come Back. Unfortunately for him, his own, single solo album was not well received in the States.
This is actually a fascinating story and the idea of a musician achieving his rock star dreams so late in life almost accidentally should make for a great film. And Carell is a perfect choice for the role. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley will be writing the script.
