Phillip Seymour Hoffman bringing Jack Goes Boating to Blu-ray

Anchor Bay Home Entertainment has announced that the directorial debut of Phillip Seymour Hoffman, JACK GOES BOATING, starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Ryan and John Ortiz, will be released on Blu-ray January 18, 2011. This film had a limited release in September and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Although it had good reviews from critics and Hoffman fans, it just couldn’t drum up enough interest for a wider release. The film follows a limo driver in New York that goes on a blind date that sparks love and betrayal while centering on two couples.
Like everyone, I’m a fan of Phillip Seymour Hoffman and look forward to witnessing how he does behind the camera for the first time. Clint Eastwood is the one successful actor turned director that stands out in my mind, and I have no doubt that someone of Hoffman’s caliber can follow in Dirty Harry’s footsteps and give us great films for years to come.
