Katherine Heigl backs out of Adaline

Posted by: Kristy Sturdivant

Lakeshore Entertainment has just announced that Katherine Heigl, who was to be the lead in the fantasy film ADALINE, has just backed out of the film.  The film was set to begin filming in March and re-casting will begin immediately.  Producer Gary Lucchesi said this:

She has made two movies with us and we certainly support her decision. We were scheduled to shoot mid-March and we hope to achieve that. We are great fans of hers and if this is what she has to do, we respect that.

Reportedly, Heigl has backed out because she recently adopted a daughter and is not quite ready to go back to work just yet.  Angela Lansbury has been recently attached to this film and is set to play the elderly daughter of the character Adaline.  The story follows the title character who is in a fatal car accident but is simultaneously struck by lightning which stops her physiological growth.  When she falls in love she must decide whether or not he is worthy of giving up her immortality. Andy Tennant is set to direct.
