Campbell Scott joins Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in new Spider-Man film

Campbell Scott (ROGER DODGER and THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE) has joined the cast of the new SPIDER-MAN film as Peter Parker’s dad and Julianne Nicholson (from TV’s Law and Order: Criminal Intent)  is in talks to play his mom. Does this sound weird? That’s because Peter Parker’s parents hardly ever appeared in the comics and they have never made their way to the big screen as Mr. Parker has always been raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May.  Director Marc Webb is doing something a little original and is either going to show us flashbacks of Peter Parker’s parents or show us how he became under the care of his aunt and uncle. Irrfan Khan (SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE) and Annie Parisse (TV’s Rubicon) are also in talks to come onto the film to play villain Van Atter and his wife.

This cast is starting to get pretty huge as we learned last month Denis Leary was attached and was going to play Gwen Stacy’s dad. But even with all this casting that’s going on, I still find it hard to care too much about the film although my interest is a little more piqued knowing we’ll get to see Peter Parker’s parents.
