Disney will continue the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise with two more films

I sure hope you’re not getting tired of Captain Jack Sparrow, because Disney is planning on making two more films after the fourth in the franchise (PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES) opens up on May 20, 2011. It has been confirmed that The Mouse has quietly told the cast and crew to not make any long term plans in the near future because work will soon begin on PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5 and 6, which will be shot back to back as one film but then released as two. Now, since Johnny Depp is so busy with shooting other films this coming year (THE LONE RANGER and DARK SHADOWS) filming may not start until 2012, but since filming is in Hawaii winter months are fair game. Still no word on who will direct or who will pen the screenplay, but it is a definite that it will happen.
The trailer for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES will be released December 13th and is directed by Rob Marshall.
