Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz in the Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides trailer

I was all set to go on a tangent about how they should have stopped at three and that the Pirates series was over, but then I watched the trailer and I found myself laughing and smiling along with Captain Jack Sparrow. So with that in mind, I have to admit that the trailer was fun. It actually kind of feels like it recaptures some of the magic and adventure of the first one but this time it relies very heavily on Johnny Depp. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I also like the addition of Penelope Cruz as she will give a much needed female adversary to Sparrow.

Along with Depp, the fourth film stars Penelope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush, Ian McShane, Gemma Ward, Stephen Graham, Sam Claflin and Astrid Berges-Frisby. There’s even word that Keith Richards will return as Jack’s father. Rob Marshall is directing the film which hits theaters May 20th, 2011. Watch the trailer here.
