McG and Brek Eisner both want to direct Ouija

What, you ask? Ouija, I’ve never heard of that associated with anything except that board game from Hasbro, surely they can’t make a film about that?! Oh, but they can. In a world where (in which you are currently living) movies can be made from simple board games and theme park rides, a film based on the Ouiji board will be made courtesy of Universal Studios. The studio is looking for a director to helm the board game adaptation about conjuring spirits and communicating with them via a little pointer and two directors are gunning for the job. McG (CHARLIE’S ANGELS) and Brek Eisner (THE CRAZIES) are both pitching their ideas to Universal hoping they can take on this film, centering on a family and a Ouija board, that will be more of an action/adventure film ala: THE MUMMY or INDIANA JONES films as opposed to a true horror flick. No word on when this gem will begin production, but once they find a director I’m sure Universal will push it through quickly for a 2012 summer release.
I don’t even know how to respond to this craziness that has Hollywood making movies from random objects. First BATTLESHIP and then a film based on the MAGIC KINGDOM. I think I’m going to blame Johnny Depp for his excellent portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow. If he wouldn’t have been so good in that role then these shenanigans would have died with PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN.
