Paramount Pictures announced today that Sacha Baren Cohen‘s upcoming comedy entitled THE DICTATOR, will be released in theaters worldwide on May 11, 2012. Paramount gave a rundown of the film and the synopsis is as follows:
The film tells of the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed. It is inspired by the best selling novel “Zabibah and The King” by Saddam Hussein.
Larry Charles will direct (he also directed BORAT and BRUNO). I personally don’t find Sacha Baron funny, at all. And yet, people seem to love him and thus he continues to make films. I’m sure THE DICTATOR will do equally as well at the box office, thus spawning more of these ridiculous films. And honestly, with all of these people that he continues to anger and annoy, it’s really a wonder he hasn’t been shot yet.
