Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams and Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris will open Cannes Film Festival

Lots of other films have been rumored to be the opening film for the 2011 Cannes Film Festival (such as: TREE OF LIFE or PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN ON STRANGER TIDES) but in a not surprising turn of events, the famous film festival will be kicked off with Woody Allen’s recent film MIDNIGHT IN PARIS. I have to hand it to him, he has gathered quite an impressive cast for his romantic comedy that includes: Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Marion Cottilard, Kathy Bates, Michael Sheen, Adrien Brody, Mimi Kennedy and Corey Stoll. Yeah, having all of these people on the red carpet to kick off your even will probably guarantee an even more successful event.

MIDNIGHT IN PARIS follows a family who travel to Paris for business as well as a young engaged couple.  As they travel around the city, Allen will explore the topics of love and the common thought that the grass is greener on the other side. Just like any other Allen film, it sounds a little pretentious. The film will be widely distributed in theaters later this year.
