Stephen King suggests Jake Gyllenhaal and Billy Bob Thornton for The Stand remake

Posted by: Kristy Sturdivant

Just a few days ago, we reported that Warner Bros. was planning on remaking the famous novel THE STAND from Stephen King and that he was going to be involved with it one way or another. Today we learned that Mr. King was unaware of these procedings and states: “I didn’t know anything about the remake until I read about it on the Internet.” Well, communication has never really been a strong suit in Hollywood, if it were we would have far less rumors to deal with. However, King was not against another adaptation but gave a little statement on the remake:

Historically speaking, movie studios blow the budget on things like this, so maybe it’ll be fun to look at. The dough certainly isn’t going to me, although if it is a trilogy, and if it makes a lot of money, I might be able to buy a chicken dinner at Popeye’s. Great slaw!

He also said that Gary Sinise did such a great job on the mini-series but if he had to pick a runner-up for the film it would be Jake Gyllenhaal, and he said Billy Bob Thornton would make a good Trashcan Man. I wonder if Hollywood cares about who King thinks should play the parts, they sure didn’t care enough about his opinion when they claimed they were moving forward with the adaptation.
