Julia Roberts confirmed for The Brothers Grimm: Snow White and film gets a release date

The battle of the Snow White films rages on, and this time Relativity Media has swooped in with some big news. First, they have officially landed Julia Roberts as their Evil Queen and second, they have set a release date for the film. Oh, and the release date is six months prior to the other Snow White film entitled SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN (this second Snow White will star Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Viggo Mortensen). BROTHERS GRIMM: SNOW WHITE will open in theaters on June 29, 2012. Pre-production has already begun on the film which will begin actual shooting in April, so look for other casting news shortly.
Even though I find these “film battles” (if anyone has a better term, I’d love to hear it) fun to follow and eventually watch, I usually find the topics less than thrilling. Of all the fairy tales out there Snow White was never really one of my favorites but I’m still excited to see it come to life. Although, I’m more excited about HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS– c’mon, that’s just a really intriguing concept!
