Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper may join Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

So I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that it looks like Joaquin Phoenix will not be taking the part of Henry who is the mentor to Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) and his slaying adventures. Good news? Dominic Cooper (MAMA MIA) is in negotiations to take on that role and Anthony Mackie (THE HURT LOCKER and REAL STEEL) is also in talks to take on the role of Abe’s BFF, Will. ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov and follows our honest president before his term in office as he learns to wield and axe and take revenge on the undead who killed his mother. Oh and don’t forget, this film will be coming at you in 3D. Production should start soon as this film has a set release date of June 22, 2012.

Even though I’m bummed Phoenix dropped out, I’m equally happy with Cooper and Mackie on board. Even though I think vampire films are on their way out, this might be good enough to give hope back to the masses. It is after all being produced by Tim Burton.
