Cancer comedy now called 50/50 and will still star Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt

The formerly known UNTITLED CANCER COMEDY has been bouncing around for awhile now. First it was called I’M WITH CANCER and had Seth Rogen and James McAvoy attached, then McAvoy backed out and the studio scrapped the film title and referred to it as the UNTITLED CANCER COMEDY, and then Joseph Gordon-Levitt came on and we then had another title JUST LIVE WITH IT. So now here we are with another new title 50/50 (which will probably stick), a set cast (for now) and even a release date. The screenplay was written by Will Reiser who is a cancer survivor and is presumably based on his experiences. The film will of course star Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard, Angelica Houston and Phillip Baker Hall. Oh, and it has a new release date of Septemer 30, 2011.
I would have thought that this had potential, especially since it had Seth Rogen attached but now I’m not so sure. FUNNY PEOPLE with Adam Sandler touched on a similar situation and that ended pretty badly and was just weird to watch. Hopefully screenwriter Will Reiser will be able to make this fifty percent funny and fifty percent touching, but I guess we’ll see.
