The King's Speech wins Best Picture at the Oscars

The biggest night in Hollywood is over and that means we can now close the door on the films of 2010 (both best and the worst, check out who won the Razzies)  and look towards what is coming our way in 2011. I can honestly say that I’ve never had a year where I actually enjoyed all the films that were nominated for best picture or a year where the race was so close between two top films. However, like we predicted in our Oscar Picks article, THE KING’S SPEECH won out due to the massive amount of heart that was put into that film. The biggest surprise of the night was Tom Hooper taking the statue home for best directing instead of David Fincher, but that’s not a huge upset. We all saw Natalie Portman take best actress in every awards show as well as Colin Firth winning best actor. No surprise that Christian Bale and Melissa Leo took home best supporting actor and actress, although after her classless self-campaigning it would have been nice to see Leo lose.

If you happened to miss the show check out the complete list of winners here. So now gentle readers we look forward to the films of 2011, let’s all cross our fingers that we’ll get to see as many excellent films this year as we did last.
