Percy Jackson and the Olympians sequel on its way

Last year PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF made it’s way to theaters with not as much fanfare as expected, but apparently just enough to move forward with the franchise about young demi-gods who exist in the modern day world. The series, based on young adult novels by Rick Riordan, takes a look at children who are half greek gods and they must battle mythological creatures to save the world. The series is fun and the first film wasn’t bad, but I’m not sure if it was successful enough to boast a sequel. There’s a very, very good chance that all the actors (including Logan Lerman who played Percy) are under contract and will return, as will Chris Columbus but this time as producer instead of director. Writers (Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski) have already been hired to pen the script so this is serious stuff. Fox 2000 wants the sequel to start shooting sometime this summer, so look for more news in the very near future.

PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS: THE SEA OF MONSTERS is the second installment in the series and follows our heroes, Percy and Annabeth, who are on a mission to rescue Grover from a Cyclops and to return the Golden Fleece to Camp Half-Blood.
