Brie Larson joins Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street

Hot off the heels that Ice Cube would be playing the police chief in the 21 JUMP STREET big screen adaptation, we get word that Brie Larson will be playing the female lead in the film. Brie is most known for her work on ‘The United States of Tara’, but also starred in SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD, which was also written by Jump Street scribe Michael Bacall. Larson joins a cast that already includes Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. But while Tatum and Hill will be playing undercover cops in high school, Larson’s character will actually be in high school and is the object of Hill’s character’s affection.
I know everyone is sick of the trend of taking 80’s/90’s TV shows and turning them into movies, but I think there’s a story to tell with 21 Jump Street, so I’m looking forward to this one. I like how passionate Jonah Hill is about the film and the story, so if they can get Johnny Depp to do a small cameo, it would wrap everything together. Chris Miller and Phil Lord are directing Jump Street, which hits theaters on March 16th, 2012.
