Alex Pettyfer up for male lead in The Hunger Games

Posted by: Kristy Sturdivant

Even though we don’t think Alex Pettyfer has the makings to be a huge box office movie star yet, studios think differently as he’s currently in the running for the male lead, Peeta Mellark, in the upcoming franchise THE HUNGER GAMES. There have been at least thirty actresses that have read for the female lead, Katniss Everdeen, including: Jennifer Lawrence, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Chloe Moretz and Emma Roberts, but Pettyfer appears to be the front runner for the male lead. According to him, he’s been approached about the part but has yet to see a script so this is all very tentative and we’ll be sure to let you know more as soon as we do.

Right now Pettyfer is circling roles for: THE HUNGER GAMES, THE SEVENTH SON (or it may be called THE LAST APPRENTICE, that’s still up in the air), THE BOURNE LEGACY and he will be starring in the film about race car driver James Hunt. Any of these have a better chance of success than I AM NUMBER FOUR and BEASTLY, which is probably good since Pettyfer may not have too many more opportunities. Not many actors can get away with three box office flops in a row.
