John Cusack to star in Dictablanda

Posted by: Kristy Sturdivant

There hasn’t been a lot of news on the John Cusack front since we saw a photo of Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe in THE RAVEN, but take heart gentle readers, he’s already got his next project in the works. It’s been reported that Cusack will star in the screwball comedy DICTABLANDA which he also had a hand in writing. The film will be directed by Alejandro Agresti (THE LAKE HOUSE) and is described as a comedy based on the political term about a dictatorship in which civil liberties are preserved rather than destroyed. Shooting is set to begin next month.

Hmm. That’s not really a whole for us to go on, but I have to admit that I’m intrigued at how they will take a subject like dictatorship and make it into a screwball comedy. I personally prefer Cusack in more comedic roles as opposed to drama or action (2012 anyone?) so I’m going to keep an eye out for this one.
