Ridley Scott still working on Monopoly adaptation

Word on the streets is that Ridley Scott (who is currently hard at work on PROMETHEUS) is still planning on adapting the Hasbro board game Monopoly into a feature length film. Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner has confirmed that Scott is still their guy, in fact they called him their “perfect creative steward”, and they are working on the film which has a great story in a fictionalized world. No word on when the film will start production, but a 2012 or 2013 time line has been thrown out there which doesn’t appear to dissuade Goldner at all because he says “Monopoly is more of a timeless story” so there’s no rush, which means that as long as Scott is on board they will wait forever.
MONOPOLY will be a story about a family and their gain of property ownership via the pattern play of the game. It has been stressed that it will not be another WALL STREET, as it appears they want to keep this more family oriented. Does bringing MONOPOLY to the big screen excite anyone? Even if Ridley Scott is on board?
