Guillermo Del Toro's next project will be Pacific Rim

Director Guillermo Del Toro has confirmed today that his next project will be PACIFIC RIM with Legendary Pictures. The film has already started pre-production and is set to go in front of cameras this coming September for a summer 2013 release. This news comes right on the heels of Universal canning the project AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS which had Tom Cruise slated to star. There’s still no word (according to Del Toro) as to why Universal dropped the project, but Del Toro is in such high demand it’s not surprising to hear that he’s been scooped up by Legendary to do a film.
The story of PACIFIC RIM is set in the future and is about creatures that threaten humanity and our only hope is advanced technology. Well, that’s the gist of it and I’m sure more details will come as production progresses, all we really know is it’s a monster movie.
