Neil Gaiman, James Cameron and Guillermo Del Toro may team up for Journey to the West

This is all in the very early stages, but author Neil Gaiman has been asked to write a script for JOURNEY TO THE WEST for Chinese producer Zhang Jizhon. Gaiman is buddies with Guillermo Del Toro who is a potential director, and James Cameron is consulting on the script and technical aspects of the film. Are you intrigued yet? The story has been around for over 500-years and follows the Monkey King who carries a magical staff and teams up with a monk, a pig spirit and a fish. We will follow them as they journey to India to find enlightenment. Sounds like something right up Gaiman’s alley as well as Del Toro’s. Things are coming together, however the only confirmed team member of this project is Gaiman but we’ll let you know when and if Cameron and Del Toro come aboard.
This sounds like a pretty interesting adventure, but it’s still way to early to get anyone’s hopes up just yet. If all goes well this will turn into a trilogy with a massive budget for each film (around $100 million per film) so stay tuned.
