Jerry Stahl to pen The Thin Man with Johnny Depp

Posted by: Kristy Sturdivant

Jerry Stahl, who has written a variety of things including BAD BOYS II, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION and ALF, will pen the remake of the upcoming film THE THIN MAN. Based on the novel by Dashiell Hammett which follows Nick Charles a private-detective turned drunk, his wife Nora and their dog Asta who solve a murder that involves an inventor and his strange family. Johnny Depp is set to play Charles and his PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES director Rob Marshall is in negotiations to helm the film. The schedule will depend on how fast Stahl can crank out this script but keep your eye out for additional casting which should be announced in the next few months.

It’s a little strange reporting something about Johnny Depp that doesn’t involve his character of Captain Jack Sparrow. I’m looking forward to seeing his take on THE THIN MAN, maybe his turn as Nick Charles will catapult this film into another successful franchise.
