Amy Adams may join Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages

Adam Shankman is still lining up cast to star in his upcoming musical ROCK OF AGES and it looks like he has found his singing journalist in Amy Adams. In a role that was first offered to Anne Hathaway (who had to back out due to THE DARK KNIGHT RISES schedule), Adams will play the journalist intent on exposing rock star Stacee Jaxx (Tom Cruise) but ends up belting out a duet with him before falling into bed. Adams seems to be a good choice for this role as we’ve already seen her belt out a tune or two in Disney’s ENCHANTED, plus word is that she’ll have a song to sing in the upcoming film THE MUPPETS but we’re still waiting for confirmation from Shankman- so we’ll let you know when he tweet the news next week.

All I can say about this is- thank goodness it won’t be Gwyneth Paltrow singing on screen again! I have yet to watch her on GLEE, but her performance at the Academy Awards almost made my ears bleed so I’m really hoping she can be kept away from the microphone for awhile so I can recover.
