Meryl Streep and Jim Broadbent in a new image from The Iron Lady

I think we all know that Meryl Streep‘s upcoming film THE IRON LADY, in which she portray’s the legendary British political figure Margaret Thatcher, is going to garner Streep yet another Academy Award nomination. But the real question is whether or not the film is going to be enjoyable. Political biographies can be tough as there’s always so much to cover in a mere 2 hours. But director Phyllida Lloyd has assembled an amazing cast and with Streep in the lead, the rest should fall into place. Lloyd and Streep previously worked together on MAMMA MIA!

The picture below is “a recreation of the 1980 Conservative Party conference at Brighton, when the Fighting Lady (as Time magazine dubbed her that year) put the country on alert over battles with unions regarding pay and jobs.” The film also stars Jim Broadbent as her husband Denis Thatcher and Olivia Coleman, Alexandra Roach, Harry Lloyd, Anthony Head and Angus Wright. THE IRON LADY hits theaters late this year.
