Emma Roberts joins Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg in Celeste and Jesse Forever

Although she has a famous father and aunt, I wasn’t sure Emma Roberts was going to have any staying power in Hollywood.  But ever since her first major film AQUAMARINE in 2006, she’s had a string of moderately successful films and it looks like she’s making the transition from pre-teen goody-goody to respectable actress quite nicely.  Next up for Ms. Roberts is the relationship dramedy CELESTE AND JESSE FOREVER, which is about a young couple that try to remain friends and even live together after getting divorced.  Obviously, hilarity and awkwardness ensue when they try to start new relationships.  Emma Roberts, Ari Graynor and Chris Messina join a cast that includes Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg.  There’s no confirmation on who anyone will play, but it’s presumed Jones and Samberg will play the titular Celeste and Jesse.

This film has actually been on deck for a while, but lost funding and then found it again.  The script was written by Rashida Jones, who has been establishing herself as quite young actress in her own right.  I’m sure she and Roberts will probably sit around trading war stories about what it’s like being the daughter of someone famous (Jones’s father is Quincy Jones).
