Jennifer Connelly, Greg Kinnear and Pierce Brosnan star in the Salvation Boulevard Trailer

I’m always impressed when Hollywood takes on religion and even more impressed when they try to make it funny. The problem most films face is that religion is a serious subject and no matter how you try to avoid it, the drama always sneaks in. So it’s no surprise the first trailer for SALVATION BOULEVARD feels a little dry, even with a star studded cast that includes Jennifer Connelly, Greg Kinnear, Pierce Brosnan, Marisa Tomei, Ed Harris and Jim Gaffigan. Maybe the problem is that the cast is made up of mostly dramatic actors that are in more humorous roles.

The film is about a former hippie that falls into a cult with a charming leader (Brosnan). But when the leader is accused of killing his rival (Harris), he has to go on the run with his band of misfits and comedy ensues. The George Ratliff directed film hits theaters on July 15^th.
