Elba could pilot a giant robot for Guillermo del Toro

After some mysterious tweets left by Idris Elba last week, it looks like the actor is being pulled towards another film. Legendary Pictures is circling Elba for a role in Guillermo del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM. SONS OF ANARCHY star Charlie Hunnam is already attached to the film.
PACIFIC is set in a future in which an alien attack threatens the existence of earth. Humans battle the malicious and brutal creatures by piloting giant robots.
The other film that Elba might be up for is DJANGO UNCHAINED from Quentin Tarantino. That film definitely sounds more like the controversial project that the actor was hinting at. In DJANGO, Elba would play a freed slave who is mentored by a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) and becomes an elite bounty hunter. His new found skills are used to track his slave wife and liberate her from an evil plantation owner.
Elba has been a fairly busy and popular commodity as of late. Right now the actor is working on Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS with Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron. The next time Elba will be on the big screen is in 2012 when GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGENCE hits theaters in February.
