Ben Stiller is eyeing sci-fi comedy Neighborhood Watch written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg

Ben Stiller has kept himself busy with a strand of steady work including GREENBERG, LITTLE FOCKERS, and Brett Ratner’s TOWER HEIST, which we will see him in come November.

While the actor decides on whether or not to take on THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY, he is also considering the lead role in sci-fi comedy, NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH. The film has been set up at Fox for some time now and is currently trying to sign director Akiva Schaffer, who is a long time SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE alum and Lonely Island member. This would be the second film Schaffer has ever helmed. His first was HOT ROD back in 2007.

If Stiller takes the role, he would star as, “an urbanite who gets more than he bargains for — in the form of extraterrestrial activity — when he moves to the suburbs and joins the neighborhood watch.” A new draft was recently completed by Seth Rogen and his writing partner, Evan Goldberg. The film would also reunite Stiller with his NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM director Shawn Levy, who would be serving as producer.
