Russell Crowe may play Henry Cavill's biological dad in Superman reboot, Man of Steel

It seems that news surrounding the Superman reboot has been scarce as of late, but things are apparently still moving forward.
It’s been announced that Russell Crowe is circling the role of Jor-El, biological father of Superman, in the upcoming Zack Snyder directed film MAN OF STEEL. If he joins the cast, he will star alongside Henry Cavill, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon and Antje Traue.
For those familiar with the comics, you will recall that Jor-El is the Krytonian father of Kal-El, aka Clark Kent. Jor-El is the guy who sent Kal-El to Earth to save him from being destroyed along with their home planet Kryton. We earthlings can thank Jor-El for sending us a superhero as well as blessing us with a distinct name that celebrities, like Nicolas Cage, can pass onto their children.
Although the role of Jor-El has been rumored to have thespians like Sean Penn and Clive Owen attached, I think Russell Crowe is a better fit. Although to be honest, Jor-El is usually such a small role in the Superman universe that you could have probably stuck a no-name actor in there, but Crowe is a good choice.
Production for MAN OF STEEL is supposed to start next month and the film should hit theaters sometime late next year.
