It seems like we’ve been getting so many movie stills, posters and trailers for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER for quite a few months now that I keep thinking the film is closer to being released than it is. But with a July 22nd release date, the film is still about a month away. But that’s not going to deter Paramount from pouring money into the marketing strategy. If the film is going to fail, it’s not going to be due to lack of effort from the marketing department. As for this trailer, I thought it got off to a great start, setting up Steve Rogers as a very likeable guy. But as soon as he actually made the transformation into Captain America, I thought the film started to look awkward. I still don’t think we’ve seen a good action sequence with Captain America and if they can’t make the action look good, then this will fall in line with the other comic book disappointments of the summer.
As for the poster, I think it’s a step back from the retro style Captain America poster we saw a bit ago. The Joe Johnston directed film stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Stanley Tucci, Tommy Lee Jones, Richard Armitage and Dominic Cooper.
