Taylor Lautner shows us some action in the new poster for Abduction

The time is slowly approaching when we will see whether or not some of the stars of TWILIGHT can hold their own movie after the franchise ends. Robert Pattinson was first up with his box office romance WATER FOR ELEPHANTS. Reviews weren’t bad but I’m still on the fence as to whether or not you can really call that a Bob Patty film. After all, Reese Witherspoon has quite a following and I’m sure she did her fair share of putting people in the seats. So that leaves our other TWILIGHT leading man, Taylor Lautner. His first big solo film ABDUCTION, which co-stars his girlfriend (or former girlfriend, I can’t keep up) Lily Collins, will open in theaters on September 23, 2011.

The poster below is average at best and is definitely not the worst one I’ve seen this year (the winner of that award goes to THE THREE MUSKETEERS). It’ll be interesting to see if Mr. Lautner has the star power that studios assume he will have, although I’m sure he’ll get at least one pass if ABDUCTION tanks at the box office.

ABDUCTION is directed by John Singleton and the synopsis is as follows: What would you do if you found your own picture on a missing persons website?  Teen Nathan Harper (Taylor Lautner) finds himself facing this very dilemma. Setting out to uncover his real identity, Nathan quickly learns his parents are far from who they say they are. When the police, government agents and shadowy figures start to pursue him, Nathan’s quest for the truth erupts into a full-blown “Bourne”-like man-on-the-run thriller.
