Vince Vaughn joins Ben Stiller in Neighborhood Watch

Neither Vince Vaughn nor Ben Stiller have the consistency I’d prefer in my comedic actors, but when they’re on, they can be hilarious. It just seems like they haven’t been “on” for quite some time. But they’re teaming up again (DODGEBALL) for the comedy NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH, which just got the rewrite treatment from the dynamic writing due of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The film is about a group of guys that start up a neighborhood watch group as an excuse to hang out together. But things get screwy when they accidentally uncover a plot to destroy the world. Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer (HOT ROD) will take on directing duties.

I’m not a huge fan of trying to blend comedy with extreme, supernatural situations, but if they have the right material, Stiller and Vaughn can be great. As for the script, the fact that Jared Stern’s (ARTHUR) script merited a rewrite has me concerned. But we’ll wait and see what happens.
