Aside from X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER is one of my most anticipated films of the summer. Similar to X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, we’ve seen a lot of promo photos from the upcoming film, mostly I think to get people used to the idea of Chris Evans as Captain America. However, I appreciate that Paramount isn’t ramming CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER down our throat with multiple trailers, character trailers, short clips, etc. I actually feel like when I see this film on opening day, it’ll be completely new to me. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that it is as good as X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER is directed by Joe Johnston and stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Tommy Lee Jones, Dominic Cooper, Hugo Weaving and Sebastian Stan. It follows Steve Rogers (Evans), a skinny, scrawny guy who volunteers to participate in an experiment that turns him into a super soldier. The film opens up in theaters in 2D and 3D on July 22, 2011.
