The Evil Dead remake gets a director and confirmation from Bruce Campbell

Posted by: Zack Bruce

The tales of the EVIL DEAD remake have been spinning for over a year now. Sam Raimi has been itching to make another classic gorefest and Bruce Campbell is always up for talking about the legendary Ash. Ready your boomsticks because it looks like there’s finally some movement on this.

Bloody Disgusting got the official scoop that Federico Alvarez would be the man to direct the remake. The only credit to Alvarez’s name is a short film titled, PANIC ATTACK! which was made with little money but holds some big effects. Raimi is holding on to the low-budget feel that the original series had. Casting has already begun in Detroit with word that Raimi will be on set to give his expert opinion before shooting, OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL.

There was also a confirmation tweet from an as yet unverified Bruce Campbell saying, “Believe in the remake, dawg! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell.” Although, a confirmation was given from the real life Bruce on Reddit back in April when he said, “NEWSFLASH: We are remaking Evil Dead. The script is awesome. I will be one of the producers and possibly play the milk man.” No word was given on Campbell’s official involvement.
